Makeup Shelf Life

Lets start with Lipsticks: Oil based lipstick stays cleanest when it comes to bacteria growth, keep in the      refrigerator to prolong their life. Rule of thumb is to toss after 2 years.

Mascara and eyeliner: This one is a simple one, it goes on your eyes, 3 MONTHS, no longer, nuff said!!!

Foundations: Powder ones if kept dry will last 2 years, cream ones can be wiped down after each use with a makeup remover wipe and then these should be tossed after 6 months to a year. Foundation in a sealed bottle with a pump dispenser same as powder, 2 years.

Blushes: Easy, same rules as foundations.

So if all of a sudden u fine your skin is breaking out, those little bumps on your cheeks, chin or that huge zit on your nose, look at your makeup, it's either time to clean it or time to toss. A product I recommend to help clean up bacteria from your makeup and makeup tools is called "Beauty So Clean" available at The Bay and London Drugs in Canada or online at beautysoclean.com.  Their cleaning products are the best to help prolong your makeup supply but remember, nothing lasts forever and really there is nothing better then new makeup, so treat yourself!
